Parenting With Adult A.D.D.

myavatar There are many people who make my life interesting enough to write about. Aside from the experiences I’ve collected, I have a beautiful family and just a handful of really good friends. I believe that life is all about collecting experiences and establishing sincere and loving relationships. I’m a 30 year old wife, mother, and occasionally student.

In the summer of 1992 I was diagnosed with Adult Attention Deficit Disorder and have been living with it ever since. While I often struggle with whether or not to hide my imbalance from the people I meet,  it’s really not that easy… Most people notice I behave differently than the average person my age, and just attribute it to personality.madhandavatar Some people think ADD is a sham or an excuse for laziness and immaturity -I invite them to read and comment. Unfortunately, you’ll never be able to experience what life is like for someone like me, so I can’t really change your opinion. All I can do is blog from the heart and hope you take away some understanding.

I believe that A.D.D. is overdiagnosed in children who struggle with behavioral and/or developmental problems, and that medication should always be a last resort. Chemical imbalances are not, however, a fairy tale and should be treated with care and respected for the challenges they represent. Attention deficit disorder is a physiological condition and it takes hard work, dedication, and a super human sense of humor to live with.

myshadowavatar A mother with ADD is who I am, and I’m not ashamed to talk about it. Having said all that, I hope that you enjoy my blog. If you do -pass it along to someone else. I also enjoy photography, showing others the world through a different point of view. This is my life in writing.
