Black Tuesday

It’s been a dreary month, but somehow we still haven’t seen snow here in Northern Illinois. I’ve taken up my knitting project again, since the weather will soon require Bastian to wear a scarf. Once it is finished I will start up on the cross-stitch projects I finished this past summer and get them mounted for framing. Unfortunately, I was just practicing a new craft when i did them, so I did not account for the extra fabric I’d need to stretch them -wish me luck!

In other news… I have not lost any of the 8 pounds I was formerly lamenting about here. I’ve only worked out maybe two days since I swore I’d lose it again. Honestly, as voluptuous as I am, most people would balk if they knew my actual weight. They wouldn’t guess it, I don’t think. I’m not even brave enough to reveal it here to my anonymous audience. Just know that something HAS to change -and now that I have an office where I can schedule out my days better I’m hoping for the best.

Today’s activities:

  • Clean out and move the fishtank from downstairs into my office, so I can clean out and sell the old one.
  • Take junk out of the dining room and find places for it.
  • Move the kennel into the dining room so I can further organize my office space.
  • Re-position all houseplants so they get adequate sun and are out of the way.

That doesn’t seem so bad, does it? Let’s get started right after I finish this damn scarf.

Delayed Post: Day 3

So after I got the laundry hauled out, for the most part, I decided that the snake tank would be much better in the basement near out computer area. We’re on the computers every night, and she’ll get more attention down there when friends come over (for our geeky computer parties). Besides all that, our bedroom is tiny and presently the Chi just isn’t flowing very well.

So -I moved the snake tank and stand into the basement next to the laundry room. Here you’ll see not only Eve, our Columbian Red-Tailed Boa Constrictor, but also the three baskets of laundry absent from the picture in my last post.

Next the furniture moving will commence!

Delayed Post: Photo Day 2

Yes, I’m a slacker. I didn’t exactly carry through on the whole 365 days of pictures thing, but I have ADD so bear with me.

I’m not quitting, I’m just posting a few pics to describe my last few days. SO here goes…

March 10th 2008

It’s still not done, but I’m proud to say this is the rug that has been buried under a pile of laundry in our bedroom for …well lets just say a long time. I’ve been a bad housewife, and our bedroom has payed the price. I try to keep the living areas of the house clean, because we have kids and pets and the occasional visitor -but our room has been at the bottom of my priority list as far as cleaning goes. Michael has suffered at work because so many of his “corporate casual” clothes have been sitting unlaundered at the bottom of Mount Dirty Clothes.

So I finally got a fire under my butt and put away (hung and folded) the three baskets of clean laundry that were sitting atop the pile (I know, it’s shameful) and used the baskets to haul the dirty stuff downstairs. Yay, you can see the rug!

You can also see that it needs vacuuming badly. More to come.

THIS IS WAR

We’re a plague house. As a result of everyone here being afflicted by some malady or another, I’m cleaning house.

When my 5 year old developed a cold, and the baby had a sniffly nose last week -I chalked it up to this being cold season.

When my husband and I had some sort of violent stomach-related illness that had us both bed and toilet-ridden for two days -I thought maybe we’d had some bad spinach dip.

When the 5 year old’s rebound turned out to be a fluke and he endured a fever of 101+ for several days -I got nervous.

When the baby started puking and exploding diapers with a foul-smelling bio hazardous waste -I knew. Imbolc is WAY past and I should have cleaned house when the gods alloted a time for it.

So now I am ripping the sheets off of every bed (that hasn’t already been stripped due to night-time explosions from either end) and scrubbing up the tub and both kids. Today.

After that I’ll call my mother. That’s right, you heard me. I’m calling my mother and I’m asking her to come over and help me bleach the entire house if we have to. Even if I have to endure her telling me that both kids should immediately be shipped off to the hospital because they’re less than chipper. Even if she starts doing my dishes when I really just want her to hold the baby for a minute. Even when she starts telling me that we should get rid of the dog altogether.

…maybe I’ll hold off on calling my mother. But I’m not leaving a surface un-sanitized today, whatever and wherever these bacteria are that are attacking us -THEY DIE TODAY.

SPRING BREAK!

So the first day of spring break I guess is officially today. I took Sebastian to daycare and went directly to not working. I had all these things that I was definately going to get done on Saturday, and then on sunday I planned to get them done since I hadn’t.

Now it’s 5:00 on Monday and I’m thinking I’d better get started. The rest of break better not go this way. I told myself that I’d get the apartment cleaned up, and then my car, and then I’d have a clean environment so I could work on my take-home midterm and bibliography and study Latin. It all starts with the apartment (and laundry). I have no excuse now that we’ve got two brand-new dryers in the building.

I have one-half of a semester left at Rockford College and I will have completed two whole years of comedy. I mean college. How amusing, that was honestly a freudian slip -I zoned out and typed that.

Anyway, I’m so close! Almost out of here!

I got to watch the last half of the season premiere of the Supranos. God, I miss that show. I have missed like an entire season. *sigh*

I kind of wish I could have watched it with the guys. Bittersweet being back, sometimes.

Well, Bastian has a poopy. I must start cleaning right NOW!

YAY!

Yes, as already pointed out, it is SPRING BREAK!

Those of us who are still struggling our way through college are REALLY looking forward to relaxing for a while. I’m presently sitting in the middle of my messy living room feeling generally overwhelmed. There’s just so much crap to do. Then the laundry waits in ambush back in my bedroom. As soon as I set this laptop down, I need to get started and clean, clean, clean until bellydancing at 3.

I don’t have to work tonight, but I’ve double booked myself again. I’m not sure what to do about it. I have a full moon ritual this evening to attend, but I told my manager at work I’d play pool with her. It would be detrimental to my work-place comfort if I were to stand her up or cancel. I don’t want to cancel… Maybe if ritual could just start on TIME today. It’s scheduled at 5, but Pagan Standard Time does exist, and as a general rule ritual starts about 3 hours after it’s supposed to. I can’t stand this!

The Spongemonkeys (of Quizno’s commercial fame) are now on VH1. Geez, I put something on my website and BOOM! I must be so popular. Why can’t I benefit from my predictive genius?

Well my mommie dearest is on her way over, so I’m going to super-fast clean the area within sight of the door so I don’t have to engage in psychic warfare. Toodles!

BTW, got a letter responded to by Cecil from thestraightdope !!!!
